PLACE OVER TIME
An exhibit on Boston through the lens of architectural history
Funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, this exhibit for the Boston Landmarks Commission traces the growth of Boston through its architecture, focusing on the questions “Why do places change over time,” and “What are the new needs and aspirations that motivate people to reshape their city?”
Place Over Time” was installed in 9,000 sq. ft. at Museum Wharf, Boston, where it remained a popular destination for many years. Our role included: shaping the design concepts; preparing material for funding proposals; sequencing the historical research into an exhibit experience; producing models, artwork, and working drawings; and overseeing fabrication/installation. The exhibit incorporated participatory techniques, films, sound, graphic panels, prints, and photographs. Although designed for adults, the exhibit also appealed to young people with elements that invited them to touch, open, lift, and engage with the exhibits.
